Arash Massoudieh, PhD, PE

Founder and Lead Developer

EnviroInformatics is led by Arash Massoudieh, a water resources engineer and software developer specializing in computational modeling, hydrology, water quality, and geospatial analysis. His work focuses on translating physical and environmental processes into robust, extensible software platforms for planning, research, and decision support in water systems.

Dr. Massoudieh is a Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at The Catholic University of America, where his research and teaching focus on water resources engineering, environmental modeling, and data-driven decision support for complex infrastructure systems.

Technical background

Dr. Massoudieh’s background combines formal engineering training with long-term software development and applied research in water and environmental systems. His work emphasizes:

  • Physically based and data-informed modeling
  • Numerical methods for transport, reaction, and system dynamics
  • GIS-enabled and spatially explicit analysis
  • Software architecture for modular, long-lived modeling platforms
  • Decision-support tools for planning and operational contexts

He is the principal developer of several modeling platforms, including OpenHydroQual, GIFMod, SedSATIII, ChronoGW, and GreenInfraIQ.

Role at EnviroInformatics

At EnviroInformatics, Dr. Massoudieh leads software architecture, model formulation, and technical development across all platforms. The company operates with a software-first philosophy, engaging collaborators and partners as needed for applied modeling, deployment, and research initiatives.

This founder-led structure ensures:

  • Technical rigor and continuity
  • Clear and transparent modeling assumptions
  • Long-term stewardship of software platforms
